In preparation for future line upgrades throughout KiwiRail’s network, Martinus Rail was contracted to supply professional services to manage and operate KiwiRail’s new Flash Butt Welding Facility located at their Lower Hutt Workshop in Woburn, NZ.
This project is the first of many to come required to supply KiwiRail’s future network projects.
Project scope involved:
• Management and operation of FBW yard
• 1600 welds into 75m strings
• Quality control consisting of Ultrasonic and Slow Bend testing
• Loading of rail strings onto wagons ready for delivery to site
